Pavoclinus mentalis, known commonly as the Bearded klipfish in South Africa,[2] is a species of clinid in the genus Pavoclinus.[3] It is a subtropical blenny found from Mozambique to South Africa, in the western Indian Ocean.[3] It was named by J.D.F. Gilchrist and W.W. Thompson in 1908, originally under the name Cristiceps mentalis,[4] and can reach a maximum length of 30 centimetres.[3]
